Alexandria, VA — 06/10/2025 — Curcio Law recently completed a month-long community initiative to champion bicycle safety across Northern Virginia, distributing over 200 free helmets to children and adults at events in Falls Church, Mount Vernon, and Old Town Alexandria.
The helmet giveaways were part of larger community-driven celebrations, including the Glen Forest Elementary School (Falls Church) PTO’s Family 5K Run, Old Town Alexandria’s Bike to Work Day Pit Stop, and Mount Vernon County Supervisor Dan Stork’s Summer Palooza. Each event brought families together to support outdoor activity, safety awareness, and healthy living.
“As personal injury attorneys, we’ve seen how life-changing a bike crash can be,” said Tom Curcio, founder of Curcio Law and a lifelong cyclist. “Something as simple as a helmet can make all the difference. That’s why we’re proud to support programs that make bike safety more accessible for everyone in our community.”
This effort was made possible through the support of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Foundation’s (VTLF) Bike Helmet Safety Program, which empowers law firms across Virginia to provide helmets and safety education to underserved youth. By offering helmets at a discounted cost, the program enables community-focused firms like Curcio Law to make a meaningful impact. The need is urgent: while helmets reduce the risk of head injury by up to 85%, only 15% of children nationwide wear one regularly.
Curcio Law extends sincere thanks to all the community partners who made these events possible and welcomed us into their efforts. “It was a privilege to stand beside local leaders, schools, and families in support of bike safety,” said Curcio. “These events are a reminder of what’s possible when a community comes together—and we’re honored to play a small part in building a safer, healthier future.”
