A weekend of food has arrived. Below we’ve mentioned a few tips to stay safe while cooking around grills.

Be sure to fully defrost all meat before cooking on the grill. If not fully defrosted, the outside will cook and the inside may be raw.

Always keep your grill on a flat site, away from trees or other combustible material.

Respect the grill master and do not distract them while they are grilling.

Buckets of sand or water should be kept nearby in case of an emergency!

Ensure the barbecue is cool before attempting to move it.

Contamination can happen when raw meat juices and drippings fall on other food. Ensure that when transferring meats to the grill, you do not drip on anything else.

Understand your grill, whether it be gas or charcoal, and know the specifics for operating it safely.

Enjoy the Fourth of July responsibly.
